A couple pics just to show the height of the T50 with the current mount.  Pics don't really do justice to just how high it is, you will almost throwing a salute, and not a good one, to reach it from a low chair.  As WpnX said however, the adjustments in height you can make with both the desktop mount (about 10 different heights), as well as the 3 different extensions that Virpil sells for the T50 Mongoose (again, very inexpensive like the mounts, I have the 3 extension kit OTW and will post pics of them when I receive them), make it extremely customizable in terms of how high you want the stick, in various configurations.  You just have to use the desktop mount to get that capability is all, at least until the WarBrd comes out (buying that and the throttle too).

I'll post some pics with the T50 alongside various Saitek and the VKB sticks later, they are in another location right now.

Cougar, Combatstick, Warthogs, T50 - which is several inches, more like 4-5 effectively, taller than the typical HOTAS sticks if you try and use the current model as a desktop unit.  You could cut a hole in your desktop and mount it flush if you're handy doing carpentry type work, and build a little cuddy/holder for it, otherwise it's either mount in a cockpit or the desktop units.

I currently run my stick on a platform separate from my desk and lower than desk height so mounting not an issue.

I am probably still 4 weeks away from being able to play.  Virpil site was down yesterday so might have a look again after work tonight

WTG Fess, you'll be very happy.  If you have any questions at all once you get them, so far as using the software etc, PM me any time, I check the forum daily.  All the docs are available for download from their site, but some are in Russian still, I have them all translated and a lot of good responses from Virpil I'm happy to share if you need them.

What are you going to run for a throttle Fess?  If you don't have one, the Thrusmaster throttle that just came out is excellent and only 75 bucks USD (you can see it in my pics).  I have every throttle made I think, and it's easily the best bang/$.  If money isn't a factor, Virpil's new throttle will be out in couple weeks, and it looks great and is about $300 USD including shipping/etc.  Get another desk mount and the throttle mounting plate for it.  The plate fits the TM Warthog throttle too, that's what I'm using right now.

Looking forward to using the stuff, especially with the extension.   I have a couple of Warthogs, CH stuff, several driving wheels and pedal sets at the moment and love the throttle.  Stick is good but will be interesting to see how the Virpil goes.  Wife asked "should we think about selling some of your old stuff"    lol
