332nd Sentai (Mongrels) claims 2 kills on b26's and another damaged posibly killed.

Rolled from 25, our orders had us patrol to 33, then turn west and patrol to 22 & 29. We were just by 24 in 2 wings of 4 N1K2-J fighters when we heard the AK's report a buff formation just south of us.

I took one b26 out, but got greedy & stupid & ended up in my silk. Rest of the squad helped finish off the bombers, then resumed their patrol. Spotted one lone dot N of 22 but were unable to close. 8 N1K2-J fighters rolled, 7 landed, XO is still lost in the jungle cussing himself.

(This message passed on to IJN HQ by a army platoon. Seems they were patroling S towards coast some 15 miles from 24. Maj Ghosth-san was somewhat delerious from malaria and kept muttering something about allied bombers and RTB 25)

Yes Nash our job was to protect the Ju 88's.  Unfortunately we can only shoot at one plane at a time (no AIM-120 or AIM-54   :) ) so your 2:1 numerlcal advantage meant the bombers got hit.  Considering numbers/altitude/equipment I'm happy that any of the bombers survived.    :)
I'm not whining - C'est La Guerre!  It was fun too!
