Also the Rhinemetal-Borsig Mk 108 was a poor choice for fighter v fighter engagements do to It's very low muzzle velocity and rate of fire. It was designed as an anti bomber weapon because of the inability to successfully place the Mk 103 in a fighter. The later 109s with larger engines and added weight had similar handling issues as the later marks of Spitfire, But later marks of the Spit had Larger tail surfaces and rudders to help with the higher torque of those engines. Also reworked ailerons... The Bf 109K had neither of these. Also the wing area of the 109 is much less than most other fighters of It's time Even the Zeke had about 20% more wing area and it weighs far less . A wing loading for the K was probably around 42 lbs. even with leading edge slatsturn performance was not that good. And pilots claimed The slats many times didn't work properly. They would stick or not deploy at the same time and that would really throw aim off or cause more severe handling issues. It could not handle anywhere near as well as the Fredrich could. The original Bf109 was designed to have the most powerful engine with smallest body and wings possible. It was designed as a BnZ plane not a dogfighter. Also I forgot whether I stated this . After many wing failures The G & K 109s were limited to a dive speed of around 450mph. The Ah design far exceeds that. I'll stick with the F-4 for DF and the G2 with The R1 option. " 20 mm gondolas for the bombers. Have a blast.
