One thing people don’t consider Is how easy it was to switch sides and find instant action back then. The numbers back then definitely had something to do with it, but the way those guys played the game was so fast paced. I played hours upon hours with Moot and Grizz of just non stop action because we could switch sides every hour. God forbid the eny was low and they had cheep 262s.

Interesting thought.... if I ever make a shade the name will be Pencil. I like the No. 6 for shading.

Interesting stats I pulled here....

I was gong over the last ten tours and trying to see who the top guys are.   Rusyn hit 2000 kills (over multiple tours) in the same number of hours as Grizz and Sunsfan.    So, perhaps it is still possible to hit 2000 in a single tour.

It could be possible. Just depends on how much of a life you don't have, I guess ... Hahaha. Doing it over a month is a lot harder than a period of months. Playing every day for 12-18 hours takes a toll on ya. The timing of the arenas and which ones are up throughout the month make a difference too.

I don't think Grizz really ever tried for "time" per say. He would normally get a high K/S which would give him his K/T.

IMO the metric to follow is K/S. A high K/S represents your ability to get a high # of kills in the MA every time you roll. This means you can't be a timid flyer or you will run outa gas, and you can't be a spray n pray or you will run out of ammo. You have to match your kills or higher every sortie to keep it up. This is the metric I typically go for when rolling. I don't really take into account K/T, its typically pretty high because I go for 4-10 kills every time I roll. Different planes call for different styles also. Gotta be a lot more patient in the American fighters to get alt if you want a lot of K/S, but also aggressive enough to get the higher amount of kills.

One thing I like about K/S is that it's not based on spending every hour of the day to rack up points or whatever. Plus it's a lot more fun to be able to get more kills during your sorties rather than fly in the stratosphere protecting your K/D only getting 2 kills then running out of gas.

Everyone has their strong points.

Working on your K/S will greatly help you to improve in the game.

I never even seen rusyn before which is pretty funny. Must've been a shade...

A highly skilled energy fighter. Well worth the repeated slaughtering to gain an insight into an intelligent and physics-based edge-of-the-envelope strategy. Altered my ACM after being schooled by said player and had to do some further reading and flight testing. Wish there were more players like him - good for the game.

I thought that he might have been skyrr flying using a different account except that after reviewing films he also reminded me of  the way Badboy and I used to practice/spar in the old DA.....

Never did figure out who he was or if he was an actual new player.....odd that he quit flying back in May

Yes, he was on a lot, till about 2 months ago. Most folk were saying it was SKYRR. EH, wasnt convinced...when he first showed up..I had some good fights, even won a few of them..so? He flew all the SKYRR rides but he was on my Squad channel for some time and the voice just didnt match up. I really dont care if it was him, or not! Cant say he wasnt a BOSS. He did however shift into an SKYRR like attitude before he left..just last  2 weeks or so...so if it was SKYRR he held his IRE/CONDESCENDING traits at bay for A LONG TIME :rock I liked this guy..if I ever asked an "How did I screw that up" question....quick and accurate responses...just like my experience with SKYRR...YMMV I guess, but I was never a complaining foe when he killed me.

ABSOLUTELY! To me, he was always PROMPT and sincere if I had any "How did I screw that up" questions. Guess it pays to just NOT BE A DICK, if he killed you? You werent the ONLY guy that he embarrassed(directed at those whos only skill vs Rusyn was to complain). Welcome to the CLUB . The HATERS missed a first class chance to study HOW IT IS DONE. Egos get in the way I guess? Your loss

While not convinced that WAS SKYRR...Scoober(his old DAMNED wing man) quit about that time as well. Only his voice was a bit different than that on his videos. So pretty sure..if NOT SKYRR, it was definitely someone from that squad

That needed to be corrected and I really don't want the past to be rehashed!

There is still 2 "wish they were damned" wannabes  currently still using the squad name, unauthorized

But at this point our 30 years of being a reputable flight sim game squadron is close to being completely retired from the scene, if the powers that be allow others to copy another squad's name and impersonate to be something they never was.........

Nuff said!
