Welcome back Fritzy :neener:https://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/shocked.gif
Long gone are those titanic tuesdays or GV fights with hundreds of participants :joystick:
Still here(BRO06562) but the old gang is thinning out :O Glad to have you back in the fold :rock
Personally I miss the whole GV ability to enter an AO and operate without anything but a flashing town indicating you are lurking about. It was the authentic feel that kept me around and I just don't really spend much time in game anymore with the unusual creative radar features :old:
The interiors are much better on the plus side :aok

Only if you set a pretty low bar for 'studly'

I was running this on an ancient i3-2120 with a lowly GTX 950. Airborne FPS at stable 60 (with just a few goodies off), in tank combat it could at times went down as low as ~30.
And I can not say I wasn't 'competitive' because of my setup ;)

Actually still no. A decent older computer with a mid GPU will run AH great.
Ground Detail range effects how far out you can see another enemy GV....if seeing an enemy first doesn't give you an edge...and to max out that setting you need a good computer then my point stands.

Ground detail range used to not work like that, I remember everyone used to set those graphics to minimum to have an advantage.

I was running my puny machine at default range settings. That gave me a (GV to GV) spotting range of ~3.5k. In AHIII, that's much further than most terrains do even give you a clear line of sight. I even had some trouble finding a spot to test these settings on a current MA terrain.
You are absolutely competitive with those standard settings in the MA.

I've been debating a return for years....  I just feel like the time I'd need to spend to enjoy it the way I used to is no longer available in my life as it  currently exists.  I played this game like an addict.  I don't think I'd get much out of flying 6 or maybe 10 hours a month.  I really do miss it tho.  Some of the best times I've ever had at a computer came while flying 10 hours straight and laughing and horsing around with squaddies.  Ho hum... in the next life perhaps. :old:

Why don't you try it?  I've enjoyed myself for decades, and I'm not sure I've ever flown that much.

Same for me. Now a days I log maybe 6-8 hours on a Saturday. Have a good time when a few of the squad guys are on as long as we can get a fight going some place.

10-15 hours a month is certainly worth $15 a month for me. Try it, you might agree  :aok

I use an Alienware computer I bought in 2011 to play AH.  The only upgrade I did was put in a Gfx 970 about 5 years ago and run the game in full settings with my fps at a steady 60.

You can't blame HTC for your not playing if you're not willing to upgrade your computer.

Have you ever bought a new car? New clothes? New shoes? New phone? New furniture?

I really don't get the argument that people don't want to buy a new computer. It isn't like you need anything special to play this game and enjoy it, a few hundred dollars goes a long way.
