Whilst polishing my samurai sword in the barracks(
)the call went out for emergency pilot call up.Rushing out and boarding my bomber I was ready in moments on the runway as the rest of the squadron waited for me.
Cfit took the lead and flew us out to the coast where we then went NOE about 50-100ft off the glistening surf.
The flight was a long one but we saw no enemy aircraft. As we flew closer to our southern fleet we turned to overfly it.
"Enemy fleet 12,7,3" came the call over the radio and CFIT made adjustments in course to intercept the hated enemy.Soon we spotted the fleet and CFIT made an excellent approach.Text book perpendicular attack.
We all spread out to give the torpedoes a good spread and thus greater chance of hitting and reduced speed to safe torpedo drop speed (<200mph).Vulnerable to fleet AA and fighter atack but luckily no fighters in sight. In a fantastic V formation we headed for our prey, the AA was fierce as we got within 2200 yards, most of it concentrated on Cfit who was in the head of the V.
Cfit dropped so away went all the torpedoes in what I have to say was the best massed drop ive ever seen. Most if not all torps were on a parallel course but to our amazement they slipped right through the centre of the fleet missing each ship by inches!!!
The Emperor would not be pleased!
we lost 2 bombers to the hail of AA fire and a third was badly hit, leaking oil from the port engine.we egressed SE to A9.
with 1 hour left we decided to try a second attack.By this time we had only 3 workable bombers.
The second attack was directed to the general area of the enemy fleet and we guessed they would continue SSE so we plotted a direct intercept and called upon the spirits for guidance and good fortune.
when we reached the target area we fanned out for the search, all the while durr and cfit gave us estimated search time and rtb times so we could return home before frames end. After 5-7 mins of intensive searching "ENEMY SHIPS" crackled over the radio!, funkedup spotted them.Quickly we reformed the 3 warriors for the final attempt.
Approaching the fleet from 11oc position we started our run.As the AA tracer began whipping past our ship I was desperately trying to bleed off speed for the drop. Finally around 2000 yards i launched and called away over the radio then banked hard away to port. The other two dropped but seemed to fly too far into the hellish hail of deadly tracer.I watched as they were both destroyed weaving to avoid fire. The torpedos ran true right into the centre of the fleet again but this time the ancestors were smiling upon me as my torpedo struck the central battleships in the bow!!
SHIP DESTROYED!! and she went down like a nagasaki potato
!!!
alone i returned to base at A7 where i decided to buzz the tower in celebration of the destruction of the hated enemies vessel!
landed safely and went to barracks to polish my sword. AGAIN
hazed-san.
