Head Position Adjustment.
« on: December 01, 2018, 06:01:27 PM »
I knew how to do this quite a while ago, have slept several times since then, and now can’t remember how to do it.  I did a search through the home page training and help menus and couldn’t find the answer.  Thanks in advance for reminding me how to.  :salute

use the arrow keys and page up, page down keys to adjust. Hit F10 to save it. Hit Home and F10 to set them at default.

If you run into the problem that you can use multiple keys for one side and get your perfect head position but, the mirror opposite you cannot move your head with the keys for that side. Here is a simple trick to fix it. When you save a custom head position it saves in the planes sub-folder under the settings folder. So find the plane in question say the Tempest. Your custom saved head position file will be tempest.hps. Open it in notepad along with this HPS guide template I've pasted in below in a second notepad window.

What you will find is the mirror side you cannot change corresponds to the side you changed by the difference of a negative sign in front of one line.

Here is the template and all you do is find the line you could change, then paste it over the line you could not save. Then you will either add a "-" to the beginning or remove it. Planes like the, La, Yak, C.20x, 109, 190 and spits you can do a single cockpit then copy that into the other files of the rest of the family.

This is from my tempest.hps file and you see the "-" at the beginning of some lines. By setting all three of the mouse pitch values to 0.000000, it's the same as the default head position from AH2. You can delete these custom HPS files in the "planes" folder which will revert your plane's cockpit  back to the default settings.

Typical keyboards can only sense a limited number of keys simultaneously, als depending on the key pattern pressed. The solution is to use the joystick buttons to select view.

I use two axis TR and don't feel like mapping keys just for this already mapped to game functions. Make the views you can, open both files, copy\paste and add or delete the "-" at the start of the line. Save and play the game.

Yes you can minimize the game while editing that file once you tower. Then maximize the game and test the updated views.
