Idiot lights were developed later after we started protecting idiots from themselves and they started procreating.
'Dad, why are you calling them idiot lights?' That was pretty much his exact response.
When I was a kid i was hanging around with my dad and his friend while they were working on his truck. They kept referring to the idiot lights and if they were still on or not.
'But why can't they just use the gauges, they need lights?'
'Because they're idiots. Idiots can't use gauges.'
The aftermarket gauge panel he intstalled in his truck made sense to me after that.
Idiot lights, I forgot about that one.
That said, I wouldn't mind an idiot light for low fuel.
