screenshot confirmation
« on: January 18, 2019, 09:51:47 PM »
Whenever I take a screenshot in the game, there is no way of knowing if it worked.  Many times I have pressed alt+s and later found out there is no picture of the event.  The only way to confirm is to open the AH screenshot file and check manually, which requires alt tab or logging off to do so.

Can there be a confirmation in the text buffer: "SYSTEM: screenshot taken" or something to that effect?

I've go a better wish.

Make screenshots not fail. And in the rare case that they do (disk full or other good reasons) print a message that it failed.

I have never had one fail.

I have never had one fail.

Neither have I.  Get saved to a different location after a patch that had me wondering, that I've had.  But this was on World of Warships after I had missed it's mention in the patch notes. :o

I had one fail last night.  I have been documenting damage patterns, by taking screenshots of the damage list.  The last pic taken last night did not materialize in the screenshots folder.  This has happened multiple times before, but apparently at random.

The confirmation text seems a rather simple and conclusive method of proving a screenshot was taken.  Not a high priority item, but hardly an unreasonable request.

Sorry, the question was intended for those who claim that a shot never failed for hem. I think the problem of failing shots did not always exist.

I have not taken a shot in probably a couple of weeks. I will do so this afternoon and see what happens. I'll post back here.   :salute

I haven't taken many screenshots in AH3 (and the last one was probably a few months ago).  I've taken a lot more during AH2 time, not a one failed me though.

When did this issue spring up? :headscratch:

I've had this problem for a few years.. if you're taking a lot of screenshots sequentially..   In my  case it was framing up large formations of bombers.. different angles, FOV, ..etc.

If you take 1 at a time, it didn't have a problem, but several in a minute, some would be dropped.

I figured it was a data rate issue with the volume of trying to finish writing the screen shot before being able to write the next one ran into contention issues.

I don't know if it is still an issue, today, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Hmm mine seemed to work but I did not take a lot. If I want to take a lot I shoot some video then grab shots out of it.

I have never taken a lot of pictures since I take a short video I stead. Probably why i have not run across this issuee.

Yeah, the problem with bomber formations is the skins on the drones don't match the chosen skin unless it's the default ( heck , even glass nose B25s put the drones in a gun package skin ) in the film viewer.

So, if you want accurate screenshots with same skins on the drones, you have to take them in flight.

Here's a screenshot taken from the film viewer..  See how silly it looks?

Yeah sloppy formation  :rofl

Well there is another problem I do not see as the only bomber I film is my B38.   :aok
