Also, for those trying this, L3DT has a poly decimate function hidden in its export dialog that works great for reducing poly and vert count.

Do you mean in the TE?  Because the actual base and land model vertices currently used in the game are all at or above Y=0 in AC3D. The only object with verts below zero is the town (ponds).

When you create the object in ac3d the node hierarchy should be [ObjectName][Model][Ground] Normally when custom objects are made the ground node is named Objects. Some collision detection and drawing order relies on this naming convention .

I assume you know about making water by setting the shader of the water nodes?

What we normally do next is use the object editor to place all the objects with the ground before using in in the Terrain Editor.

Yes, I'm going to copy the flag states into the hierarchy using Notepad.  That's the only way I know how to do it.
