Why the AvA (Axis vs. Allies) arena deserves your time
« on: March 01, 2019, 09:08:38 PM »
Once known as 'Combat Theater', the AvA (Axis vs. Allies) arena should appeal to AH players who crave historical immersion, smaller terrains, a 2 sided battle and, basically, a static/rotating event. With the exception of limited lives, a command structure that limits your actions to orders from on high and artificial limits such as alt caps and min/max limits on the planes active in the set - AvA is very much like flying in an event 24/7.

All it requires in you (and you ... and you .... and .... you get it, bodies). Unlike the MA, terrains are generally historical (with few - very few - exceptions). Granted, like events, there may be aircraft and vehicle substitutions. As broad as AH's models are, not everything in WWII is among them. But whatever is offered, be it early, mid or late war, high end prop, jet or bomber, perks aren't needed.

Come on in and get your feet wet. I know there's some AvA veterans out there that haven't given it a try in awhile (I'm one). I know there's players out there that have never tried it.

Heck .... 5 on each side can would be fun. 10 on each side would be a blast! 20 on each side would be a miracle! (And, for balance sake, no time limit exists on switching).

All I see is fun. Anyone allergic to fun? :D

I went in and Oldman was in there. We flew a couple of sorties against eachother. The vertical wind is still on from Monday Night Madness.

Once they get the settings down... for our new CMs, it should be great.  I will be going in there more.

My Hurricane hit 20k in less than 4 minutes then nearly shook apart at that alt at 358 ias. The horizon was showing in the upper third of the windscreen for level flight. At first I thought it was me but then I checked wind velocity. It was a hoot, actually. But I think players don't want that for immersive play. C knows.  :)
