BPF Seafire
« on: February 17, 2019, 07:27:37 AM »
This Seafire was part of 880 Naval Air Squadron based on the Royal Navy fleet carrier HMS Implacable as part of the British Pacific Fleet in July and August 1945. In order to extend the range of their Seafires the squadron adapted some P-40 drop tanks which had been unofficially acquired from a USAAF island depot in the South Pacific. With these drop tanks their Seafires had enough endurance to escort bomber strikes against the Japanese mainland. As with all BPF aircraft US-style markings were adopted to prevent friendly fire incidents with their American allies.

Great work!  :aok
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Not really, if we ever are to get a Seafire III it will be when the Spitfire 3D model gets updated and at that point this and all the other Spit skins would be obsolete.

I did the original AH2 Spit default skins way back when and I remember at the time there was some uncertainty about which Seafire mark HTC should model. I was pushing for a Mk III as there were a lot more of those made, it would be a better MA plane and it was the first proper carrier version with folding wings etc. In the end Pyro went with the Mk II, probably because the Mk III would be over-powered for the mostly 1942-43 Mediterranean scenarios the Seafire might be used in.
