Good post Dougie. The COPO is about 400 lbs lighter than the Model 3 Performance edition, and put up pretty good numbers for a 2 wheel drive vehicle. If they build a 4 wheel drive COPO there will be no need to prep the tires before the race. They could also lighten the vehicle by getting rid of the transmission and using a torque converter instead.
If GM or Ford build a factory to assemble their own batteries then we will know they are serious about EV's as batteries are the single most expensive component in an EV. Buying batteries from suppliers like LG and Panasonic is allot more expensive than to build their own. GM and Ford do not make a profit on their EV's yet and buy all of their components from other companies. Their I.C.E. vehicles subsidize their EV's. The same is true for MBZ, Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen.
I can't wait to see the new Rivian R1T pickup truck. It is supposed to come out in 2020.
