This Wildcat Mk VI (basically an FM-2) served with the Royal Navy's East Indies Fleet on the escort carrier HMS Searcher in 1945. On the 11th August, four days before the end of the war, it was written off in a deck landing accident by its pilot Lt. Pullen. The British markings applied over its USN specular blue paint had had their red areas over-painted in white for the Far East theatre and white SEAC ID bands had been painted over the wings and tail surfaces.
