Here's a 2 Country War terrain for the H2H
« on: May 10, 2001, 05:09:00 PM »
Here's a map that I've been working on for the H2H online section.  The map is called Battle1 and it is a war between Rooks and Knights.
Bishops are a Neutral Country and is not used, but control a NO FLY ZONE! ( White Area ) where if Rooks or Knights enter that area they could be destroyed.
The Yellow area is also a NO FLY ZONE! but it allows Boats and Ground Vehicles to pass thru the area without being shot at by Bishop ground guns..
Just my first map with this premise.
Also I wasn't sure of a good number of fields to place on map.
This may have too many fields for an 4 vs 4 player game.

I have placed 2 Large Airfields ( Per Country ) that support all planes, and the remaining Medium and Small Airfields supports all planes except for Large Bombers.   I was using  B17G and Lancaster III as Large Bombers.
Was going to eliminate all Bombers except for Troop Transports ( C-47A ) at the Small Airfields but changed my mind for this map.

All Vehicle and Port Fields have a runway strip for Rearming planes except the Vehicle Fields in the NO FLY ZONE!

You can get it at http://accesswave.ca/~tscott/AH-stuff/AHterrains/Pokie-Terrains/Battle1.ZIP

I think the next one will be smaller.  Feed back in the Number of Fields per Country or even the size of map would be helpful.

Well here's some feedback mate . Now I though this might work till I tried it

It does look good and has alot of promise IMO but the no fly zone ? I took off in Jet to make the trip shorter , and u can look at the pic it tells the story .

If you can't get to the other side of the map without getting killed , why bother ? I have been in the H2H only for 3 days now but have seen lots leave if the have to fly too far already .

Plus I hate the 88 mm ack , if you had a map like this with say three one runway fields , two vfields and one port each would be more than enough IMO . Placing the field close together woundn't hurt , if they wanted to fly farther they most likly would be in the MA I think . Hell they left last night cause I had the planeviewmode set to MA settings , 2 .

Then I might be full of it , maybe there's already a map like I just wrote about , just small fields two sides and closer together , if so point me at it please , I am looking .

I really liked your pokie1.res , we used it last night , if it had no 88 mm ack and two countrys would be good enough .

cheers
spro

Edit : I am airdrne in H2H now .

Thanks for the input airspro.

I was sort of feeling that the terrain was going to be to big.

The No Fly Zone was to make players fly around the East side of the map.  That way your airfields didn't have attacks that could come from all directions.
Plus players could use the Carriers for launching points once they sailed closer to the enemy country.

But you are right I'll have to make a smaller map with less distance from fields.

BTW Grayarea your email to me failed?
