This Boston was originally built by Douglas for the RAF but upon the USA's entry to the war was requisitioned by the USAAF. In 1942 it was allocated to the 59th Bombardment Squadron based near the Panama Canal who attacked many U boats during anti-submarine patrols over the Caribbean. This duty was taken over by the US Navy in 1943 and the squadron was disbanded.
Douglas would have delivered the aircraft in RAF colours but the USAAF repainted in the Atlantic patrol scheme of olive drab and white. The white-painted leading edges and lower surfaces made the plane less visible to U boats, as night or day it became less of a dark silhouette against the sky. Unusually this aircraft also had a second darker shade applied to the top surfaces which I have assumed to be Sea Green as nothing else matches the tone.
