IL-2's 37mm "Shotgun Burst"
« on: February 04, 2012, 12:58:37 PM »
I've been flying the IL-2 quite a bit lately and I realized that if you try and and tap the trigger 1-4 times, instead of getting 1 or 2 rounds to fire, eventually an 8-13 round burst happens, and essentially a shotgun effect happens.

Has anyone else noticed this? It's kinda cool to play around with, but at the same time may be a bug and also dosen't help when trying to conserve ammo.

Note: The trigger taps don't necessarily have be deliberate, even after some solid bursts are fired, the "Shotgun Effect" happens at the next firing.

well it does help to be a touch insane..........helps put the voices into perspective.....

your problem is most like in your stick. try switching your fire button to another button, or just using the mouse or key board fire buttons. see if the problem goes away when you do this. if it does then it is in your stick, or its programing.

if it doesnt go away then it may be in your copy of the game. to cure that i would say you should uninstall (saving your settings and skins folders first) and then reinstall the game and test again. if it doesnt happen again, try to reinsert your saved copies of your old setting and skins. test again. if the problem didnt return then you are all set, if it does return then it may be an issue in your setting as this is where your stick settings are stored. top cure that reinstall the game and you will just have to redo your settings.

good luck

Use the keyboard. If it is not duplicated from the keyboard key, then it's a faulty button on your joystick.

Might be a related issue, something new this weekend I've never had happen before in this game.

I was in my D-9, and had a lag spike develop after I had pulled the trigger at the beggining of a 3-5 second hosing.  When I depressed/released the trigger, a period of lag/freeze developed lasting maybe 1-2 seconds before my machine caught up.

When my machine had caught up, I was still firing and continued doing so for another 2-3 seconds (for those keeping the math, this was at least a good solid 4-6 second lag hickup) while still encountering "residual" framerate lag (I had stick control of my plane, but it was still firing...  twords the end of this hickup, and suprised, I physicaly glanced down at my stick to ensure it was physicaly fine, and it was).  My computer further caught up, frame rates restored, AND THEN the firing stopped (visualy w/ tracers and the counter ticking down, and the audio as well were all going off from when/what I could see).

I have not encountered or been able to reproduce this type of lag since, but it was this weekend in the MAs and could be related to the recent patch.  I have never experienced that type of lag before.

I was trying out the IL-2 yesterday, and this happened to me with the 37mm.  I have an X-55, but don't see how it could be the joystick's fault if the game actually allows a faster ROF than it should.  Cannon code must have a bug, which wouldn't be surprising, since it's the only plane with that type of cannon, and hardly anyone flies it to complain.

Try shooting at a target while filming.  See if the hits match the glitch.

If you need help with that let me know.

BTW if a topic is this old it's best to start a new one.

Edit: I took a look at this and it seems it's just the slow rate of fire of two guns combined with different trigger duration and pauses. This sometimes gives you one shot from one gun or four shots from two guns but it's often two shots from two guns. It depends on the timing of the last and current shots.

I've noticed that with short bursts from the IL2 it actually plays a greater sound of rounds firing than are actually fired.  I'll do a quick burst (2 rounds) and it'll play the sound as if 4-6 were fired, but only 2 gone from magazine.
