New Plane in 2020
« on: December 28, 2019, 07:07:16 AM »
My wish is for a new plane(s) in 2020.  Not a re-modeled existing plane but a completely newly added WWII fighter plane.

Thank you.

A26, bang for the buck. Something for bomber Jockeys would be cool, but anything new is always good.

There you go.  This would naturally be an item to work on in 2020.

Thank you.  :salute

I wouldn't call that "Bang for the Buck" as that would still require a whole new 3D model and flight model.

F4F-3's performance was different enough from the F4F-4 (being lighter, faster, and more maneuverable) yet would require only minor changes to the 3D model.

The clipped wing A6M3 Model 32. Once again, minor 3D model changes while giving different enough performance that it would basically be a new aircraft.

So that alone is two aircraft that could be dropped in relatively quickly with minor changes to assets already in the game.

The clipped wing A6M3 Model 32. ..

That's the one we have. If you look in the hanger you'll see the wings change length as you select the various A6M models.

I don't honestly remember exactly when the Zero got remodeled and we got the A6M3 but it's has been several years. 5 or more maybe.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I would like a new mid to late war Japanese fighter. Ki-44 would probably be my first choice, followed by J2M and Ki-100.

Ki-44
Ki-100
J2M

There was a discussion on this on the other thread, as our A6M3 doesn't have the improved roll rate of the Model 32, but handles like it has a full-span wing.

I commented on that thread about our model 32 clipped wing A6m3 roll rate. Anyone have data? I haven't seen any. The OP said it seems to be the same. The roll problem for the Zekes was at high speed. Did that improve with the clipped wing? Is he comparing it to the A6M5 which has an even shorter wing?

The model 32 should have a better roll rate than the model 21. Anyone timed it?

Edited: The model 22 came after the 32.
