i managed to get my map into the clipboard, but it seems to be having the wrong scale or something.

I just tried it in H2H mode, when I'm flying over London the clipboard map says I'm somewhere in southeastern wales (and it says I'm over London when all I see around me is water). In the editor you can switch between map sizes, but you can't in H2H mode, so tell me what to do please

Is your terrain a full 512x512 terrain?

If so, you have got to tell the editor that your clipboard map represents the full 512.x512, not the 256x256 that was used in the beta terrain and the current MA terrain.

What you have too do is make a file called... err I forget the name, I will get it for you when I get home from work, that has only the number"512" in it, on the first line.

Will get file name when I get home.

There is now a button to change that on the fly verm.

Press the terrain scale button to set it.

Ooopsss...

I am still using the closed beta version. Sorry, I didn't realize that there had been a version change when it was opened up to the public.

Sorry

rgr I know about the scale terrain button, and it works in the editor

but when I test the terrain in H2H mode with the clipboard image in the aces high\terrains\test\ directory its scaled like a 256x256 map

map0.bmp
map1.bmp
map2.bmp

I did a silly thing maybe you did the same Red
I forgot to export the proper data from ogres map maker. I hit load data and  then copied  the .elv and .typ files.  But doh! I forgot to export so of course the data didnt correspond with the map.
Now i am right where i am supposed to be

BTW i had to name my map files  map 0 1 2 3 to  work properly  using map4 like the tutorial stated ,left my lower right hand quadrant  still on default.

Im sure everyone is like me and amazed how flat England and the coast of  France is  .

Now i have not tested it H2H so I dont know if scale works properly there.

Baddawg,

You're right about the terrain being flat and this is accentuated by the scale of the maps and knowledge that "altitude is life".  I'm forever looking down on the Owen Stanley mountains in Papua New Guinea and thinking they don't feel high enough but the altimeter doesn't lie.

heh cc that Baddawg, right now i'm tweaking the Heightmap, we need to "exaggerate" alot parts of the Map, just for let it look cool.
No one would fly 1 hour across a absolutely flat terrain
Man i love to editing !
I also working on a Europe Map
