There were just cRooks and Bishop back then. Yes, the cRooks (Rocks) were the "Dirty Rotten Cheaters" then, as they still are today.

The Knits did exist, but only as a team to be feeling sorry for. Of course, also to pork their poor defensless fields and vulch them mercilessly. On a good night the Knits had often less than 5 players. Times when the MA had 60-70 total.
This was Beta (.34) and my first exposure to AH. It went like everybody else's first time. Excitedly I downloaded the game and then scimmed the manual long enough to learn how to:
- 1) Start the Engine
- 2) Fire the guns
- 3) Get On-line
- 4) Ask 50,000 questions so that everyone learns to ignore you
About this time I got to reading the AcesHigh UBB. This very one as a matter of fact. The "General Disccussion" area was filled with flamethrowers. By the time I got to the 10th post of a thread it contained already 2 or 3 flames.
It did not take long for a chip to develope on my shoulder. I also gained some amount of perceived fear. How could I ask anything and not get riduculed for at least 25 postings for being such a "Ningcompoop"?
I had thought that the typical prototype of this "UBB Bully" catagorized themselves as a "Hardcore Simmer". The prevailing mindset, so it seemed to me, was "Thoult shalt not think contrary to the way that I thinkest"
Ouch... How do you deal with those people?
A T T A C K !Thusly I did. Now a days, I just get a laugh from it all. Most importantly, I learned that I was wrong and there were many very nice and helpful players.
Since then it has only gotten better.
Enjoy!
