Before their were Knights!
« on: June 28, 2000, 12:04:00 AM »
There were just cRooks and Bishop back then.  Yes, the cRooks (Rocks) were the "Dirty Rotten Cheaters" then, as they still are today.

The Knits did exist, but only as a team to be feeling sorry for.  Of course, also to pork their poor defensless fields and vulch them mercilessly.  On a good night the Knits had often less than 5 players.  Times when the MA had 60-70 total.

This was Beta (.34) and my first exposure to AH.  It went like everybody else's first time.  Excitedly I downloaded the game and then scimmed the manual long enough to learn how to:
  • 1) Start the Engine
  • 2) Fire the guns
  • 3) Get On-line
  • 4) Ask 50,000 questions so that everyone learns to ignore you
About this time I got to reading the AcesHigh UBB.  This very one as a matter of fact.  The "General Disccussion" area was filled with flamethrowers.  By the time I got to the 10th post of a thread it contained already 2 or 3 flames.

It did not take long for a chip to develope on my shoulder.  I also gained some amount of perceived fear.  How could I ask anything and not get riduculed for at least 25 postings for being such a "Ningcompoop"?

I had thought that the typical prototype of this "UBB Bully" catagorized themselves as a "Hardcore Simmer".  The prevailing mindset, so it seemed to me, was "Thoult shalt not think contrary to the way that I thinkest"

Ouch...   How do you deal with those people?

A T T A C K !

Thusly I did.  Now a days, I just get a laugh from it all.  Most importantly, I learned that I was wrong and there were many very nice and helpful players.

Since then it has only gotten better.

Enjoy!

Mino your way of telling Minotaur's story has really make to laugh my ar$e off!!! LOL!!!

Here is an extract of that priceless jewel!!!
"King Minos, being King and all, figures he can't have an 8 foot tall, ugly as sin, son hanging around the palace. Minos did not know the child was not his natural son. (This guy had to be REALLY dumb) The Minotaur, as he was called, gets locked up in the castle basement.

King Minos, sooner than later got fed up with the noise downstairs. And yes the smell was not that pretty either. But, he had no practical way of ridding his household of the beast.

The Minotaur, by now had discovered the basement was a cool place to hang out, more of a maze really. Mino, his childhood nickname, soon loved to play hide and seek. His bad reputation began because he played Rockem Sockem Robots with any person who actually found him. (Bit of a poor loser I would imagine)"

LOL! <S!> MINO!!! that thread rocks from start to end and the story is priceless

(BTW Pyro was right, Theseus, Aegeus' son, killed the Minotaur with some help by Princess Ariadna)

You're talking to one of the Kings of the Single-Plane Field Defence (tm) here! Was Knights more often than not (always had a soft spot for the underdog!).

Your point is your bovineness.

And you know what you still cant fly and your 6 smells like cow patties.   Id scalp you for those horns but here in texas we use those small ones for fish hooks.

Now if you were to come back to the Bishes might have to say you can fly a little.

A N D !

I found out who Curly's Dr. Hyde persona is, but I'll never say.

CC Indian!

We did have some good times in the Training Corps and as fello Bishops.  That was before I became a Rock and then a Knight.

Unfortunately now your are still a Biscuit and I am a Knight (In shining Armor   ).  Everyone knows that biscuits are only for shooting down and porking their bases.

In case you all forget, remember this...

You mess with the Bull, you get the horn.  <S>

Ram;

LOL

Lies...  It was all lies.  The Minotaur was really the good guy in this whole story.

The Minotaur is still around to tell the story.  You see Hercules or that "Assobigiotheus" charactor around here?  I never could remember that wimp's name.

He has the one lucky shot of his lifetime and he gets credit for the kill.  He was warping badly and I told him that at the time!

Hblair;

I was still a gunslinger then as well, so not much I can say.  I'm glad we got that worked out. <S>
