As best I can remember, there was a material failure that caused a hydraulic leak and the first fire light.  That fire resulted in failure of a fuel or oil line (can’t remember which) that caused the second fire light and fanned the fire ball making it rapidly progress toward the cockpits.  By then, pretty much everything flammable was fueling the inferno. So, yes, the hydraulic fire degraded the flight control system pressure and the resulting pitch issue.

Bottom line: no crew error.  Pure material failure.

Yes sir!  Always nice to know those seats were ready for action.  Fortunately, I never had to use one.  Came close a couple of times though.
