F4U-1D VF-84 Lt(jg) William L. Gerner

Was stationed on the USS Bunker Hill February 1945, the yellow Toyko raid cowl ring was painted over late in the month. Gerner had 3 kills but wasn't clear if they were in this plane, with the crowded nature of a CV you got what was available if your were in early missions. On this I tried to show the overpsray from painting the arrows, but i think it might just make it look blurry. 1st two with over spray, last two clean.

One reason I love the 1A is the difference with the tri color schemes, once it gets to late war -1D and on the planes lose some of the personality.

Another nice job.  Well done.

As an experiment have you considered trying a Gaussian Blur on the blue?  Not too much so you can preserve the weathered look, but just a fraction.  You may decide it isn't worth it, however, it might prove to be a look you prefer.

Great looking skin Whiteman. I prefer the earlier USN schemes as well. It seems to be a thing with all WW2 naval aircraft, US, IJN or Royal, that there isn't a lot of variation in scheme or nose art compared to their land-based air arms. I suppose the air and ground crews weren't able to get away with so much with the captain or admiral on board.

Beautiful looking late-War Corsair, Whiteman.  Great screenshots!

I kinda like the look of the overspray on the arrows, but you could also mix it up and show some arrows with overspray and some without.

Very nice skin. The overspray does not look overdone, so I'd keep it.

Incredible work! Love the Big Blue Birds! <S>
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I think mixing it up is the way to go, thanks!

Since the plague started my sleep schedule is anything but normal without a set work schedule. Yesterday I was wide eye up at 4am and instead of fighting it i just went to the computer and started on the -1D template. Really wasn't much to change on the panel lines, just some small items on the belly and the wing and a single solid blue to get right.  Not the variation as the lighter colored, coral and sun blasted island -1A's. I can spend a day just playing with colors on those.

Will try any tips giving. Thanks Again everyone!
