Hi guys,
Newbie here invited by Vraciu, as he reached out to me with some questions on a 506th FG Mustang.  While I'm not really into the flight sim stuff and this game YET, I do hope to be soon.  I am an avid WWII collector, focusing in on US aviation, and am historian for the 506th FG, also focusing on the 7th AAF, especially the other Mustang groups (15th and 21st).  I sent Vraciu some info on this aircraft, as we believe it to be #234 not 231.

I came across the post which I naturally graviated towards because of it's content, but I will say that looking around I am very impressed with your knowledge and strive for details here.  Very cool.

I hope to maybe play the game soon :-) but also help contribute where I can to getting it 'right'.

Nice to meet you all.

Brian

Welcome aboard, sir.  Glad to see you here.

I received your images and am posting them below.   You are dead right.  It's a 4 not a 1.   You can definitely see it in both images (in the larger one it's poking out behind the gentleman's right knee/in front of the left thigh). I'll add that to the list of things to fix on the next update.   Very good eye.  Thanks a lot.

I'm happy to see you here.  You will be a big help to us and I know I speak for everyone when I say that we hope to get you into the virtual skies, soon.   :salute

And to the rest of you on here feel free to check out Waltz41's site.

Some really neat stuff over there.   They've got me on a VLR Mustang kick right now.

Hi guys,
Newbie here invited by Vraciu, ......

Nice to meet you all.

Hey Waltz,

Welcome to our BBS!  Hope find this game enticing enough to jump in.  I highly recommend some time  with a trainer to help get you started.  Growing up as  the son of a guy who got his career start in Navy aviation at the end of WW2  I found myself sucked into WW2 flight sims back in the 90's, and they have been a regular pastime activity on and off, ever since....I find endless challenge and fun in this game and all I do is fly fighters.  As a WW2  buff you may particularly find, as I do, the historical scenarios appealing.  Friday Squad night operations are also great for a more historic feel with historic plane matchups.   Many squads are looking for new players and are a great avenue to help learn the game.  Hope to see you in game soon!   :salute

Brian,

We always enjoy having knowledgeable folks drop in and visit. The skinners here appreciate anything you can bring to the table that would help with the accuracy of their work.

Don't be a stranger. Visit often. If you decide to try out AHIII, we can help you get started on your next addiction.

Welcome to the boards  :salute

Funny to run into you here Brian 😀. Sucked in by the 506th Mustang skin?  Iwo Mustangs in general?   I’ve been a cartoon pilot here for a long time.  When you get the itch to fly it give me a shout out.  Wear that Garrison B10 for your first flight 😀

I do claim some responsibility for  Brian’s Iwo Mustang obsession 🙂

Whoa, hey Dan!!  I just decided to take a look after Vraciu messaged our 506th group with some questions for an aircraft.  We got to talking, and introduced me to this board.
For everyone else, Dan is a WWII collector like myself, and graciously gave me a nice grouping belonging to a 72nd FS, 21st FG pilot, including his B10 jacket.  I did end up getting Dan a new B10 for his collection, but his amazing, selfless act still makes me smile and thankful.  Dan also was into the 506th and Iwo P-51 stuff before I fully jumped in.

Glad to be here everybody,....I literally need another 'hobby' like I need a hole in the head, but...I have been wanting to do a flight sim for a while.  This seems like perfect for me to start out with.

Welcome to the boards!  The skinners in here do a great job of preserving the history of some of our favorite planes.  I'm sure you'll be a great added resource.

Now if you do decide to enter the game..........look for an old man flying around in a P47D-11.

Again welcome aboard to our community Waltz.  Enjoy.

Hello Waltz, this probably my favorite section of the board. Look forward to hearing what history you add to this section. If anything in the knowledge bank crosses over with F4U’s, particularly Navy with pirate flags I know someone that would be interested.

Thank you everyone.  I think it's a 'must' that I get involved in flying soon haha.

Spikes, special shout out to your avatar lol.

I will check out the forum, I need to check into what is needed to make this a 'go' for me.

And I will help in anyway I can with the skins and history!

Thanks all!  Glad to be aboard.

Spikes was into studying seismic activity well before he met that girl. She claimed that she could detect the pressure and magnitude of any earthquake worldwide before it even happened. He has been studying her ever since.

True story.

Beautiful. Your metal is fantastic. Amazed at what this game and its skinners have been able to do with metal work. You get my vote.
