Sometimes my Rift CV1 will show as USB2, then flick over to USB3. This has happened since as long as I can remember, never impacted device performance.

I set up a powered usb hub with the Rift plugged into it to the computer.  That seems to have fixed the problem.  Steady green in the oculus device menu.

Well, maybe not so much.  The powered hub solved it for a few days.  Now it’s back to the “Recommend a usb 3.0” statement every time I open up oculus While plugged into a usb 3.0 powered hub.  Ideas?

This thing is just kind of an oddball for this stuff. Had you ever tried to re-seat the cable at the headset? Requires some minor disassembly to get at but not a big deal. Might help.

No, I have not.  Sometimes unplugging the headset for a short time and replugging makes a difference.

No I mean from the headset end. I'd done that too and it was either that or the hub that made my prob with but the warnings and random crashes stop.

The latest thing with my RiftS was it lost track of the controllers. Changed the batteries, no diff. Don't use em anyway but got the reset play area thing and couldn't. Just skipped it. I only do flight sims. I'm sitting. Oughta be an option to just turn off anyway.

Yeah, understand that you meant the headset end.  I’ll take a look at that end.  In the last week, my left earphone has stated cutting in and out randomly also.  So, another issue to resolve.  Thanks for the input. :aok
