A Curtiss XF9 Sparrowhawk conducted its first successful "hook on" test, successfully docking with the Navy airship USS Los Angeles (ZR-3), #OTD in 1931. Los Angeles was the Navy's longest serving rigid airship.

I wish there was a simulator out there that would allow you to fly the hookup in a Sparrowhawk. Could be quite fun.

I agree. It would be a niche of a niche market, though. And it really wouldn't be a 'combat' sim. Perhaps a Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 patch?

F9C remains one of my favorite biplanes. There is only one surviving.
