There's way too much 'just in case' in this thread not to be considered militantly political.  :frown:

I'm planning on probably buying my first firearm this weekend. Never thought I might actually need one, thought I'd be able to go to neighbors if I needed to. At this point I am legit scared living in Portland and would like to have my own incase mongrals start ravaging the streets.

Maybe... but in lieu of recent events,  a cut back of the military's budget is likely...
remember, the very first job of our government is to protect the constitution
AND the country... everything else is secondary

So correct me if I’m wrong as I’m not an expert on guns. Which shoots better through brush/forest 270 223 3006 or 3030? I’ve always been told 3006 pretty nice through brush.

Highly recommend 9mm for a starter pistol. Imo has less kick than say the 40 I have. What’s the laws like in Portland.

The old legend was that bigger, heavier bullets were less likely to be deflected by brush than lighter ones.  As the years have passed, that seems more and more like an old wives' tale; a bullet hitting anything is going to be deflected.  But if you like the thought, you'd stick with the .30 calibers you mentioned, as they both have heavier bullets (150 grain for both, 170 for the .30/30 and 180 for the /06) at lower velocities than the first two.

I found a bunch using arms list for reasonable prices .Also gave me an excuse to go pick some up with the RV.

Purchased 5k of .45 at 40 cents. 20k of 22 at 6 cents, 2200 rounds of 357 at 45 cents.

And my newest gun to learn.

Looks like prices are headed in the 2008 to 2016 price range...and higher

I'm thinking more on the lines of a shotgun. Would really like an AR15 too though. But would probably be more beneficial to have a shotgun right now.

Im not a huge fan of pistols. I like big and bulkie as mistakes are a lot harder to make. Ive shot 45s 40s 9s and 22s,  tech 9s, shotguns, 30 aught 6, ARs, and AKs. Nothing is more scary than a shot gun at close range.

I do like that one hitech posted tho. Very nice.

I guess I'll just have to see what the shop guy recommends.

Very pretty, Colonel, very pretty.

I never fired a K-frame.  Never even held one.  Should be nice!  Consider getting Pachmayr or comparable grips.  You'll see what I mean after you've fired a few rounds.

Seems like revolvers are making a comeback.  Good to hear.

New panel set if grips arived today. I put about 400 rounds   threw it so far. Current grips suck. Also discoved the 38 crud ring. New stainless brush came in today to help with that. Took many hours with just a brass bore brush to remove the ring.

I had been searching for a 4" k frame for about 9 months.
