AMD Mobo questions
« on: November 17, 2020, 03:00:34 PM »
My current rig dates back to 2014 with i5-4670K Haswell, ASUS Z97 board. Last year I upgraded the GPU to an EVGA GTX 1660 Ti 6 GB, Thermaltake 700 W PS & SanDisk Ultra SSD 500 GB

I've read a number of reviews on the Ryzen 5 5600X praising the high benchmark results against the mighty i9-10900K. Once the supply line of Ryzen chips opens up, I'd like to replace the current CPU, motherboard and DDR3 memory. Any suggestions on those? I could care less about RGB lighting but would like to move to a M2 drive at some point.

Most any decent board for the new chip should have M2 slots. From what I have read about AMD today is that their new gpu depends a lot on their processor. They are back on top for a bit. I used to be all AMD years back. My new machine I built recently is a i9-10900k and I am very happy with it.

The B550 motherboards from MSI seem to be pretty good. Their X570 lineup has some cheaper boards with rather low quality voltage regulators. B550 should be fine for most users.
