Town perimeter clearance

Is there a requirement for an open area around the perimeter of a town? Or maybe a "Best Practice"?

Not that I know of but maybe some of the newer terrain builders have run into one.

Checked a couple of Bustr's maps, they have an open area around the town and the base, as does Greebo's Crater map :rock. Well check a few others.
