Wasn't the plane I wanted to do next but after a bout with Covid in January and side effects still dragging out I went with the last plane I could remember working with. Seen one tri-color you've seen them all is probably how most view them, every time i see one i want to see another.

This one was one of the last remaining F6F-3's in TF-58, VF-17 and VBF-17 had few still operational on Hornet late in the war. While not a direct linage to Blackburn's Corsair squad they did adopt the name with only a few with the Jolly Roger nose art. They were also just as successful with 12 aces in VF-17 and another 8 with the sister squad VBF-17 during the final push in the Pacific. The two VF-17's combined for the most kills by a Naval squad, 313.
