This an adoption of Rogerdee's original.
This P-39Q was operated by the 46th Fighter Squadron from Canton Island in the central Pacific during the later half of 1943. Because Canton Island is treeless, the P-39's based there were painted in a tan color to blend in with the sand and coral. The underside was painted a light blue to blend in with the sky, and is given a wavy demarcation to the sand color on top. The shades used in reality are still up for debate, but I elected to use ANA 616 Sand and a light blue created by shifting Azure out of the light purple range. Apparently, the real color was created by mixing Insignia Blue and Insignia White, but my results in attempting this resulted in variations of blueish gray.
Also the marking colors are a mess of speculation also. Most depictions show a red surround to the insignia, but the reference shows a very dark color here and trials using red on the skin resulted in not enough contrast, so red was out. Same story for the nose art and spinner. I then tried Insignia blue and black before settling on black.
