Saxman had okayed me to update his long before they were made available. I sat on them and since his were orphaned recently and all of Hitechs work it made it a much easier process, i got them going.

Tex, I was always under the impression that "Marines Dream" white 576, was with VMF-214 flown by Ed Olander.

I’m trying to figure that out, Sax had it listed as vmf-222. Seen it listed for both any info on that would help if I need to rename it.

Edit: Book I have says it was assigned to both at different times, VMF-214 then VMF-222. It was crashed by Lt. R. W. Wilson of VMF-222 on December 15, 1943 at Torokina. It also shows a very unpopular right side. It clearly says “The Ignoramus” where a pilots name would be. It also shows clearly an eye painted high up the cowling. There’s a sticker set that has a guess at what they call a demon face and mouth. I may add “The Ignormus” but don’t want to add the eye with no clue what the mouth looked like.

In game skin was based off a model and had the same art on both sides. Photos clearly show this and every other VMF-321 -1A to have different pilot name and nose art on each side. With 1 exception.


VMF-312 012 Winnie The Poo-Too, Maj Ed Overend, Commander. Will be replacing an aircraft. This is the exception to two pilots per aircraft. There are no photos of the right side, and a safe bet he had his own aircraft as the CO.

These look great.

I will make one suggestion, you should adjust your yellow shade both darker and more orange. You can see that some areas are shifting very bright and yellow/green because of the lighting.

Adopted skin VMF-214 883. The previous in game skin had red markings and the name Martha, looking at photos it looks like it the blue surround and the name Martha wasn't on it. Some profiles show it had kill markings, Martha and Red, those all look like they just wanted something more colorful to sell.
