Throttle and Yoke Desk Mount
« on: July 28, 2021, 05:59:28 PM »
I've got a Saitek X52, but I'm getting a new desk that is wood. Before I just used the suction cups on an aluminum desk, but that's not going to work this time. Anyone come up with a mounting solution like you would find with a drop down mouse tray? I've seen a few solutions that are made for HOTAS, but they're all spendy.

Looking for a solution that won't destroy the desk.

I built mine too. I built the desk too so I had a plan  :devil

Mine stow under the desk so I can use the desk/computer for other things (first picture) Using 2 sets of hinges I could split the arms to fold back. Second picture shows the setup half open. Last picture shows it in the up/ready position. The slide locks hold it up. The plates the controllers are screwed to have changed as I have changed controllers.

I just hold my throttle and stick down with blu-tack. It does require you to fly with a light touch, but that really does improve your flying.

Kind regards

First thing I want to say is, that is a glorious masterpiece. Second thing is, that is WAY more than I want to build. But I want to reiterate, that is a glorious masterpiece.  :aok

I hear ya', but it's gonna be an expensive desk. I was looking for some sort of pressure mount and a drop down something or other.

Non-slip mat works pretty well if you remember to wash it regularly to keep it tacky. Instead of dedicated small mats buy a trunk mat at the automotive store. Same price, plenty more of the same stuff.

I bought the Monster desk mounts for my controllers.  Great product.

Consider the chair! You can mount the controllers to the arms of a chair and it wont mess with your new desk. You can fab some mounts out of plywood and fasten them to the arms of the chair, then mount the controllers to the plywood.

I put the throttle and keyboard on the desk, and mount the joystick on a sheet metal bracket that positions it in my lap.  The bracket is attached to the bottom of the desktop and is slotted so it can be easily removed.
