Modern Design
« on: December 07, 2021, 05:32:49 AM »
Thanks to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin.

"Modern Design" was a B-26C of the 319th Bomb Group's 440th Bomb Squadron. It flew 104 missions with the group and even survived a mid-air collision with another B-26 which removed half its horizontal stabilizer.

The 319th Bomb Group was stationed in the Mediterranean theatre for most of the war, fighting in Operation Torch and then the campaigns in Sicily and Italy. In 1945 it was sent back to the States to train on the A-26 invader and then deployed to Okinawa where it flew missions against the Japanese until the end of the war.

Very cool.  Is that a horse in a zoot suit?  Wonder what the story of the nose art is?

The 319th was on busy BG, fighting in 3 different theaters.

The nose art is of a sharply-dressed wolf, not sure what the story behind it was though. I took it to be a satirical look at the male fashion trends of the time which is why I went a bit weird on the colours.
