You do not have to buy the game to try the Beta.  It will be a free download.

FYI.





If it doesn't suck, I will probably get it. 
it would be cool to get some of us together on a Teamspeak server and squad together.

You can now pre-download the free Beta.

You don't have the buy the game to try the Beta.  Open Beta will run the 8th,9th.  Based on past experience, I would be surprised to see that extended a bit, but that isn't guaranteed.
