Damned Memoriums
« on: January 21, 2021, 09:12:10 PM »
When your squad has been around for more than 33 Years you are bound to loose members and the Damned has been around since at least 1988 and we may very well be the oldest Flight Sim Squad and gaming group in existence today.

I met many of the Damned back in Air Warrior for Windows on AOL back in 1995.
I met many of the Damned in person back at AWCON98.
Around 00-01 the Damned moved from AWIII/AWMV to Aces High. I had at least two friends and former squad mates join the Damned ... Deviant from the 33rd and Whels from the ACCS. I to eventually found my way into the Damned.

Unfortunately over the last 20 years we have lost many squad-mates .... This is a list of those Damned Member that we have lost over the years. They are listed Alphabetically by Handle.

Jay "Argos" Robinson 2016

Mike "Buzzard" Goss, 2003

Rick "CrazyHorse" Seip, 2004

Dave "Damned Doc" McCal, 2013

Kelly "Damned Niff" (DMDniff) Crawford, 2008

Mark "KGann" Andrews, 2004

Rex "Lone Wolf" ( LW ) Grozier, 2016

Steve "RTR" Cheverie 2017

Bill "WH6" Hart, 2020

Michael "Whels" Koon, 2015

Tommy "X2Lee" Pinrow, 2017

Note: No one has heard from Frank "Gray Eagle" Williamson in over a year and the last we heard from him or his Wife was that he was having some health/medical issues due to an injury. GE was 70 at the time.

:bhead Dang, I wish I could have known about these sims, back then! All I was familiar with was Jane's F-15, and the Combat Flight Simulator 1-3.
Those fellers must have been ALL SORTS of fun! Then again....my kids would still be in Diapers(they are 25 and 23) and all kinds of messed up. WHEW! Even NOW, I spend more time with you fellers, than I do with "Blood" Family!
It was an honor flying with TC and you the other evening! Wasnt quite as organized as it could have been...but was still an awesome time! Not everyday you get to fly with the OG's! Now to get "BadBoy" back into the mix!??? :rock

I knew CrzyHrse, Rick Seip since air warrior.  Rick passed away when he was in our squad The Flying Circus.  We winged together many times in AW and AH.  We had a memorial flight for him.

Whels...........miss him also.  If I was recruiting for a scenario he was the first one I got in touch with to join my squadron.  Fortunately for all of us we were glad when he joined.

I miss them both.

I flew with The Damned in AirWarrior just before it went tits up and remember well when everyone came over to AH1. There were almost 90 Damned divided between 3 air wings. :x

Fun times indeed.  :salute

Whels was very good people. I didn't know he passed. I remember Crazy and Wolf too.

I came back under the original moniker "10Point" but I can't play for long anymore so we'll see.

These players live on in their squads.  :salute

Michael "Whels" Koon's had shifted from flight sims to racing sims so he was a little out of touch with this community at the time of his passing and His passing was rather sudden. From what I know of it. He got sick went to the hospital and passed. I have no clue what sent him to the hospital or what ended his life. It was so sudden, if I wasn't friends with him on Facebook, I would have never found out.

I was also facebook friends with Tommy "X2Lee" Pinrow and his passing took me by suprise.

I was friends with Rex "Lone Wolf" ( LW ) Grozier whom I met in person at AWCON98. I conned Rex into working security at the con with a case of Franzia Whine Coolers. We had some nasty issues with the Hotel night manager and at the end of the Con Rex went around and swapped all the female and Male restroom signs in the hotel and it's convention center; You would be amazed how many women don't know what Urinal looks like or what it's used for!. When I left Franzia to goto tech school in 99 I sent him another case of Wine coolers ... He seamed to loved em! When Rex got sick I prayed for him a lot but I guess God needed him more than we did. :(

I really miss these guys and other people we have lost from this community like Earl "Arc" Mack the former squad leader of the 33rd Strike group. He passed back in 2011. I was friends with him personally. Hell Joe "Tigerdoc" Kirklow and I kidnapped his kid "Bandit" and dragged him to Paramount Great America to see if we could get him sick on the rides .... we succeeded! Unfortunately, Arc passed of Lung Cancer in 2011. Tigerdoc passed away in 2015. Tigerdoc worked the door at awcon98 ... he was the guy we dressed up like a WWII grunt.

LW Was one of the AW players I was playing with in the 91 to 95 era. In a flight in my RV teaching him a hammer head. He had a sever desire to convert the down line into a spin.
He did not like the look of the ground filling the wind shield and wanted to pull back before the plane had reached flying speed. At the time he had just completed is IFR.
He also always hated me for one con night filled with tequila.

He was one of the group of 5 of my friends who had flown my RV that passed with in a 12 month period.
