Bf 109G-2/Trop flown by Ernst-Wilhelm Reinert of 4./Jg 77 in early 1943. Reinert was the highest scoring fighter pilot in the Battle of Tunisia, claiming 49 victories January though April 1943. On May 8th, his unit was evacuated to Sicily and Reinert launched his 109 while seated on the lap of another pilot and with the squadron's chief mechanic inside the fuselage. While making the trip, he spotted and attacked a Royal Navy Wildcat, which crashed into the Mediterranean Sea.
Ernst-Wilhelm Reinert survived the war with a total of 174 victories.
