Registration open for "Road to Berlin 1945" scenario

1945 battles on the way to Berlin.  The Scenario starts in March.

P-51's, P-47M's, B-26's vs. 190D's, 109K's, and Ta 152's.

Luftwaffe is filling up fast. Go claim your spot now! Even if you can't, we will make sure you get a ride during the frame, regardless.

B-26s need escorts, too. Lord knows the German countryside could use more North American aircraft parts strewn about, sign up for your P-51D soon!

What?? No love for the Jug?  At higher alts the Jug outperforms the P-51.  It had the lowest loss rate per sortie then either the P51 or P38 and the Jug was in the fray before the P51.

In the book Fighter Command, American Fighters in Original WWII Color Hub critiqued all three.  The P38 was problematic at altitudes of 25K.  Sometimes the hydraulics froze on the superchargers limiting boost to either 10# or 80#.  At 10# you couldn't fly and at 80 you'd blow up the supercharger.  In the same book a 38 Pilot related they had to rtb to at 8K hoping the enemy AAA couldn't line them up flying that low and fast  This was caused by the freezing of the superchargers.  Zemke , having flown all three fighters as a FG Commander stated further the 51 was beautiful to fly and did very well up to 25K.  He loved it.  He said also that above that altitude the P47 performed better, the firepower was devastating and could dive on or away from anything and was faster then either the P38 (if it could get that high) and the P51.  It also took damage that the other two fighters that the 38 or 51 could not survive.  With the low loss rate, considering even their use as fighter bombers is testament to the Jug.

I am secretly more afraid of P-47M's lol. We need Jug pilots, too! Second best plane in the setup, in my opinion. Sign up for one today!

They made it 20K so the 51s' could keep up.   :D  And by the way USAAF Bombers usually flew at 26K.  Sounds a little low to me for a max alt.

Semp........... :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl  I agree the 51 is more handsome.  Someone had to do the grunt work.  The 47s' did it very well.

Yes sir. It is roughly set around 9th Air Force raids in late March into mid-April around the Saxony regions. The 56th of the 8th Air Force was also operating in this area on occasion conducting escort, sweeps, and sometimes ground attack missions. The goal was to provide medium-alt action and offer a wide array of targets.
