Dmitri Donskoy
« on: April 24, 2022, 03:09:39 AM »
Thanks as always to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin.

This T-34/85 was operated by the 38th Independent Tank Regiment, one of the first units to receive this improved variant in March 1944. It has a well-worn coat of winter paint and like all the regiment's tanks had the name "Dmitri Donskoy" painted in red on the turret. Donskoy, meaning "of the Don" was the name given to a 13th Century Prince of Moscow who defeated the invading Tatars near the river Don in 1380 at the Battle of Kulikovo. He was later made a saint by the Russian Orthodox Church. During WW2 the church paid for this regiment's tanks, hence the name.
