Inflation sux
« on: July 05, 2022, 07:02:31 PM »
Well thanks to inflation, and the cost of gas (It takes over $130 to fill my gas tank) my wife and I have recently had to dip into our savings account to make due till pay day, that says something when my wife alone pulls in $80-90k+ gross income per year. Something has to give and we have to cut some cost until all this economic silliness is over with.

Lately I have been spending most of my simming time in DCS and to a lesser extent Il2. I have not played aces high in months and when I was playing I was pretty much only in it for FSO.

Regretfully I Canceled my Account and my last day to fly will be the 19th of July and honestly at most I'll drop by just to say goodbye.

Hopefully some sense of normalcy will return to the world sooner than later.

Sincerely
Mayhem

PS I will probably drop in on the forums from time to time, I'm still active on the Facebook and I will be very active on the Damned Discord channel where we actually have quite a few Damned members old and new.

What you flying in DCS?
A yappy back seater like Jester wasn’t popular or fun to fly with, more of an unnecessary distraction than anything else---Puma44

I'm a field tech so most of my gas gets reimbursed. That saves me from suffering too much from the price of gas but everything else is also more expensive

I've noticed that packages are getting smaller. Like coffee.

I'm pretty simple. I eat basic things. whole foods mostly. Eggs, Chicken and just basic stuff. Fast food is very expensive. I make my breakfast and coffee. Even just buying a cup of coffee every morning can add up fast.

These times will pass. Things like this go in cycles and we'll pull out of this.

Icecreamonmars.com. ICOM for short.

Hell ya! I live in Commiefornia dude and thanks to the dipstick in the white house and the rooster lollipop we have for a governor, gas out here is like $6.40 a gallon.

Between me and my wife we are spending around $500 per month on gasoline alone with current prices (Tax on Gasoline in my state just went up again on July 1st to add injury to injury.) When Gas prices go up generally so does the cost of everything else.

And it's not $1000, my DCS library is only valued at $738 as I only purchase modules on sale and have been doing so for nearly a decade. On top of that a few of those modules were gifted to me.

Currently Eagle Dynamics has their summer sale going on until July 11th.

They also have a 50% off discount for new users. All new DCS World users can take advantage of a 50% discount on their first purchase, regardless of whether they buy just one module or the whole library.

Additionally ED has a Free to Play Program since the release of the stable version of DCS World 2.7, all users have the opportunity to try almost any of their modules for free. You can test one module for two weeks, and then take the next one or test several modules at once.

Even at a $1000 over nearly a decade It Is nothing compared to my steam account (I've been a steam user since 2004ish when Half Life 2 released.)

I have in the past paid for AHIII for up year without playing during that time, But with inflation and the fact I have to take out a second mortgage to fill up my pickup and I can no longer justify paying for something I don't use.

I got a good chunk of change from my fathers house when he died a few years ago. That money paid for some home improvements, a new roof, my new PC, New controllers, VR, etc. The rest went into our savings account. I haven't had to dip into savings for a very long time and never just to make ends meat till payday, due to this my wife and I decided we are dropping all unnecessary expenses for products we hardly ever or never use like Aces High III, Kindle unlimited, ESPN etc.

I could have just been an arse and blamed Low numbers, ENY, and/or cheaters for my departure then whined like a school girl on an episode of "What are you doing step bro!" and asked for refund :D But honestly it's just time constraints, a lack of interest, and economic issues.

It will not get any better anytime soon

Vote in November to split the power just like in 1994 when the republican wave saved us from slick willie and gave him time to chase fat chicks in blue dresses with cigars...

And yet, the price of AH has not increased since 2001.  A great entertainment bargain then, and a terrific bargain today.  Glad HiTech has found ways to keep the lights on.   :aok
