Thanks to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin, which is an adoption of one done by Kev367th in 2006.
"Kay" was the Spitfire flown by Squadron Leader John Plagis and was named after his sister. He was CO of 126 Squadron, during June 1944 while their Spitfires were painted in half-width D Day stripes, a common practice for squadrons which were part of the RAF's 10 Group. Some of their aircraft were funded by donations from the Persian Gulf and had the name of a state written on them in Arabic and English, in this case "Muscat".
The son of Greek immigrants to Rhodesia he joined the RAF in 1940 and was credited with 11 kills fighting with 249 Squadron over Malta in 1942. He later commanded 64 and 126 Squadrons and scored five more victories with them, the last two in this Spitfire, before he was shot down and wounded over Arnhem. After recovering he commanded a wing of Mustang Mk IIIs flying bomber escort missions and after the war flew Gloster Meteors as CO of 266 Squadron.
