I agree, it’s kinda bogus that maps get rolled with no opposition in the early morning.

Dang, I bet the Dickweeds are going to have a big bomber raid and I'll miss it...

I'll join you both on your sentiments. While stateside, I was helping our 91st get going again with reestablished squad night B17 bomb runs, and also actively participating in DHBG's as well. Now I'm in SE Asia, and I'm hardly able to partake because of the 12 hour timezone difference. I definitely see the unopposed roll of the map during my evenings (US mornings)..

Trying to arrange my work schedule to be more compatible, but it's slow going.

So have there been naval battles in the North Sea?   Has the southern country tried a breakout into the North Atlantic?   What about the Eastern Med and Black Sea area?

Boy I'd love to see a time-lapse image of the activity to see where the thrusts have been.   Hope it's still up when I get back this weekend.

One concern I remember having is the shadows cast by the Alps.   Was wondering if they would be a problem in the Tanktown set up in Switzerland...

Breakout is impossible.   Can't get past shotebatt, BB, and bombers.   Our boats just go in circles dodging bombers until sunk.    Nice concept but channel is far too narrow and has too many obstacles to overcome.

I just use it to kill CV raiders....

There was a knock down drag out fight at A95 (island of Palma) last night between the Bishop (aggressors) and Knight (defenders). It was magnificent, one gv'er had over 40 kills, gv's every where, fighters and jabo's. it went on for several hours.

Sunk a BB in the Black Sea as a defender, was surprised to see it that deep.

Are you talking about the English Channel or the Strait of Gibraltar, or the Dardanelles?   Is it possible to attack the shore batteries and put them out of commission to spring the fleet passed them?   I think it was a similar problem IRL.

So cool to hear about these fights tied to real-world locations.

The Black Sea is over 7,000' deep apparently.  Who knew?

A95 is on the Island of Majorca, actually - but Palma is the largest town on the island.   Cool, cool, cool.  Can't wait to form a large group of B17s and head out from Britain for Germany, or take off with B24s in N Africa bound for the oil refineries in Romania...

P42 I think.

Thanks Vraciu.   I can't see shore batteries on the map I have access too, but it does seem like for a breakout to be feasible, the overlooking bases need to be captured or the shore batteries neutralized before attempting to traverse a narrow passage.

Keep the comments and observations coming guys; I think they could help improve the design of subsequent terrains.

Maybe we have to reduce the number of shore batteries at choke points, or maybe this style of map requires greater coordination of effort between players?   I'll be disappointed if breakouts turn out to be truly impossible though.

it usually doesn't take more than 3 16"shots to range and kill a SB. Please don't decrease number of SB's ! Need a gunner not a boat driver and a coordinated attack :x :x
Still getting poor frame rates in aircraft near clouds

The Terrain Map pic looks amazing.

Oboe your enthusiasm for your creation seeing all the possible action scenarios is giving me a fit of nostalgia from long ago when I was making MA terrains.

I still remember all the work that goes into making these maps. So many details.

Is there a thread that talks about all the cool design decisions made in the layout? I would be fascinated by the thinking behind the map by its creators.
