USMC M3 75mm GMC
« on: July 16, 2023, 03:51:42 AM »
Thank you to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin.

This USMC M3 75mm GMC took part in the Battle of Cape Gloucester on the Island of New Britain in late 43/early 44 and was likely part of the 1st US Marine Special Weapons Battalion of the 1st US Marine Division. The Marines used the GMCs to knock out Japanese strong points and bunkers and often added extra machine guns to them for close in defence. Like many USMC vehicles this one had a field-applied camouflage scheme over its factory olive drab paint. There were no official colours for these schemes and units generally had to acquire their own paint. A circular emblem featuring a diagonal pair of "1"s and what may be the USMC logo was painted on the side of the vehicle.
