Football (Soccer) 23-24 Season
« on: November 22, 2023, 03:05:04 PM »
I know there are a few hooligans hanging about, so I wanted a place to chat about your favorite clubs/leagues, etc. Champions League is in full swing as is all European Leagues. This thread would provide a place to talk about and share our opinions thereof.

Any favorites or predictions for UCL winners? I think I have to go with City for a second time, mostly because I see Bayern struggling to injuries late in the season.

I am a Premier League guy and am a Gooner for life, for better or worse. Again, predicting City being crowned for a fourth time running with Arsenal second. I watch about 3 matches per match week, if not more, of the Prem. Thoughts on the Everton points deduction?

Agreed it is City's to lose.   Not sure about Arsenal staying in second spot though  :P.    Still a long way to go.

Everton broke the rules and got punished for it.   Doesn't help any of those relegated clubs feel any better though.  How the Likes of Man city and Chelsea can get away with spending what they do/have in the past and not fall foul of the FFP rules is a mystery to me.  They must have better accountants and lawyers that is for sure.

Within a few years I can see Newcastle being mentioned more and more at the top with their un-limited funds hack.   It is sad to think whoever has the deepest pockets usually ends up on top rather than it being about the football.

My beloved Pompey are still un-defeated top of league one but I feel the wheels are coming off our season already with injuries mounting up.  Hopefully Mr Eisner can spend a bit in January and gamble for the final push to get us back in the Championship.   :pray

It is almost all too obvious why Everton get punished but Chelsea and City don't. Has to be corruption, right? Nothing else makes sense.

Arsenal have the potential to make a deep run, but like your Portsmouth, injuries will plague them late on. With Champions League in the midweek as well, Arsenal will do well finish second without too many injuries.

City and Liverpool are playing as I type this. Need a Reds performance today.
