Not bad for a 26 year old sim. The repetitive terrain tiles in Falcon 4 was always an immersion breaker for me. I don't see that in this video but it may just be some clever editing.

Wow, that's Falcon? Which version is that? I only saw what looked like NATO planes, any Migs in there? I remember playing Falcon AT back in the day.

That's Falcon 4 (1998) with the latest free BMS mod. Not released for download yet I think.

You can buy Falcon 4 on Steam for $6.99 if you don't already have it or don't have a CD drive to install it.

***Looks like that BMS ver is avail for download.

Wow. $6.99 non sale price for the required base game. That's a good deal! Looks like you can DL it from steam.

I might have to get that. Dang, so many good sims out there for next to nothing. Recently picked up IL2 1946 and CLOD Blitz too. Think I paid $4.99 and $9.99 for those.

I just installed both and ran BMS. You have to run the base game once before BMS will work. Terrain looks better than the original but not great. Not sure that the terrain I have is the same shown in that video.

I tweaked the settings, better. BMS has kept this sim on life support for a long time. The dynamic campaign is really the only thing that makes it even a little competitive with DCS. That and the price. It's really not up to modern standards though imo.

In case you were wondering how to shoot missiles in the DCS F-4E.  ;)

Jester has a more difficult time locking up smaller planes like Mig-21s. For those I switch the radar to boresight (CAGE) and lock them up with the NWS/Auto Acq button. Sidewinders are definitely easier to use than Sparrows but you get a few miles extra range with the Sparrow. Provided you can get a lock before getting too close.

I've had some fairly consistent issues with Jester & Sparrows.  I can create a simple mission (or fly the training one) and do well with the Sparrow using Jester or Cage.  But, MP seems to muck with it.  (Same with the Shrike now that I think of it).  On Hoggit's training server, Jester refuses the orbiting c101s (I get that they're small), but then Cage mode goes nuts going in and out of lock.  Occasionally it works, but there's no guarantee of a missile coming off the rail.  Heaters are solid.

The only times I've used the F-4E radar against smaller planes like the Mig-21 was MP. I'll have to test the same mission SP. Obviously it should be the same. I have full confidence Heatblur will make it right.

Of course those AI Mig-21s at Ace level are from a dimension where you can eat your energy and have it too.

The damage model in DCS WW2 planes is just weird to me. The effects are cool from inside the cockpit, but it seems strange to me in DCS, shooting a plane with 100 50 cals and only seemingly getting a gas hit for them to go ditch. Their wings or tail don't fall off. It seems the only way you know they are down is with a fire coming out the back. Does anyone else have that problem? It seems that 20s work pretty damn well of course. Why do they always have to make 50 cals so weak in video games :/

Yeah.  The DCS warbirds DM is known to be inferior ATM.  It's usually smoke or fire streamer.
You will see their prop stop if you killed the engine.
You will see them bail.

I've seen wings and stuff come off from collisions.

I expect the new warbirds coming soon (F6F, Corsair) to have a new improved DM.  Maybe even by end of year.
