Peckinpah and James Coburn: It's gotta be good. I'll look for it.

Cross of Iron, absolutely brilliant, how in a heck could I forget it?

Yeah great one.

I'm sorry they killed off Bruno in the movie version of the Blue Max.

I think in the books he continued his downward spiral and was a Nazi ace.  That would have made an interesting movie.

Toxic, psychotic, self-aggrandizing drama queens simply aren't worth me spending my time on.

Nazi ace at WW 1..? The whole Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei was established 1920. And, believe or don't, it was forbidden in Germany for soldiers to participate political activities and especially in Luftwaffe, very little of personnel were party members or even active supporters.

First date with my then-to-be wife, sometime in early 1977.  Can you believe she married me anyway?

That song still flits through my head.

I didn't read the later books.  (My copy Blue Max copy was signed though!  :D)

I think the later books were supposed to get darker as he slipped into alcoholism and became a Nazi.

For aviation related WW2 movies my personal favorites are:

British series "Piece of Cake"  - I really liked these series, I think one of the best series on BoB: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOu1rrR1A5-rH77VFSR3fXmNf52bL8747

Another one, is by one of the best Ukrainian directors, actors Bykov: "Only 'Old Men' Are Going Into Battle":

You can watch it here with English subtitles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8bNInTulB4 it is truly iconic movie. I know that watching with subtitles is not something that is common for English speakers still I think it is very valuable. Interestingly it was filmed in 70th but filmed in black and white and it allowed integration of real combat footage to a movie.

BTW now it is banned in Russia - because it shows flight over Ukraine, with some Ukrainian songs and with Ukrainian main character...

It’s been ages since I’ve seen Baa Baa Black Sheep (Squadron) on TV.

Something tells me it’s fallen under the cancelled category but over what issue(s) I certainly can’t remember.

My first taste of Pacific Theatre air combat from that show.
They're casting their bait over there, see?

The new Fallout series drops on Amazon Prime tonight. I guess that's more post WWIII.
