Flown by seven-victory ace Capt Marvin E. Grant of the 342nd FS/348th FG Leyte, November 1944. Aircraft is bare metal with a red-bordered white racing stripe running down the length of both sides of the fuselage. The cowl is apparently a replacement part, probably scavenged from an earlier olive drab over grey Thunderbolt - likely so the pilot could bring along his old nose art to his newly assigned mount.
Click images for full-size versionsI'm intending to submit this skin as an adoption to replace one of the duplicate 49th FG "83" P-47D11 skins. Both the 348th and 49th served in the PTO, so its a Pacific Thunderbolt replacing another Pacific Thunderbolt.
