My First Ever Model Kit Complete!
« on: June 14, 2024, 11:43:17 AM »
I finished my first ever AirFix P-51 Mustang, it's not perfect but it is still a decent little model.

PS: I do not know if I did it correctly or not.

Not bad, especially for your first! You can really fall down a rabbit hole with these kits. Next thing you know you'll need an airbrush, a spray booth and with each kit all the add-on things you can buy to make them look extra special! LOL!!! I refuse to buy add-on stuff, the models are expensive enough. I dont mind building my own add-on stuff, add wires from old phone lines and stuff like that but thats it. Ill see I I have a picture or two around.

Keep at it! Its fun! And build them for your self. You dont have to make it so it wins a contest, as long as your happy with them thats all that matters. <S>

Heres a FW190 I did....

A T34....I did finish it, but can find a picture of it right now.

and a P51 I built for MARK4.....

Those are really well done Fugi. My next project though will be my biggest challenge. I am going to recreate a B-24J that one of my buddies father was a navigator on over Italy. That one will test my ability.

Those two sites I left links on on the AH FB page have a lot of great information. Plenty of tips and tricks if you want get down and dirty. If you have question on the build send me a note and I'll try to help out. When doing something for someone else get as much data as you can. The more references the better and just take your time. Dont worry about the little things and most of all have fun other wise it just isnt worth the trouble.

I did model kits when I was younger but mostly just did the assembly. The painting always frustrated me and I was never really good at it. It's a talent I do not possess. Really impressive work here, love the attention to detail. Keep it up!

Built my last model probably around 1978.  That's all I did for a number of years. Got pretty good with painting them.  Nothing but Testors & Paint thinner.  Great for winter projects.  Although, I'm pretty sure all that glue, paint & thinner is how I got brain damaged.  :old:
