VISA and guns question

Hi All, just wanted to find out if this is a thing in the USA. Do VISA not deal with guns/ammo shops in the USA - as it appears to be a thing in little old New Zealand now:

From a very reputable gunsmith/gunshop here:

VISA cancelled our VISA facility because we are now categorised as a Gun Shop selling Guns and Ammo through our bank and VISA want nothing to do with Gun Shops.

A quick google shows I can only find stuff about tagging firearms purchases, not blocking them completely. So it seems to be a new policy from VISA?

Vulcan, I got a answer for you. PorkyPig who does sell firearms did mention that it is down to the Issuing Bank, and not Visa itself. So it maybe the bank you are going through.

Yeah that's what I thought, and I queried it and got the answer above which seems to indicate it's from VISA themselves.

Their visa support has been reinstated, musta been some overzealous anti-gun pencil pusher somewhere in the food chain.

Visa is mainly owned by institutional investors, who own over 95% of shares.  As of '23, a few of its largest shareholders were The Vanguard Group (8.94%), BlackRock (7.99%), and State Street Corporation (4.64%).  Visa, like many large corporations today, has become an ESG influencer.  Your experience does not surprise me.
