Granddad claimed he saw ball lightening once. Well, that's what I decided it was. He had no freakin idea.
He was sitting in the den in his recliner watching TV during a heavy lightening storm. I guess lightening hit their grid and blew a bunch of stuff and fried their TV.
Then the room was semi-dark with just some dim light coming in from the window with the the blinds drawn. Something came out of the electrical socket next to the TV. and drifted across the floor passing no more than 10 ft from his recliner about a foot off the ground. A blue ball of light about the size of a baseball. Never made a sound. Didn't flash or pulsate or sizzle. Didn't bounce or wobble. Never deviated. Just drifted in a perfectly straight line across the room and into the opposite wall and went right through it. No mark left on the wall. Just passed through like it wasn't there. He didn't know what it was, just said it was he most beautiful blue light he had ever seen.
This was probably around 1970ish. In San Angelo, TX.
And gramps didn't drink.
I'd pay a grand to see something like that first hand.
It didn't leave any circles in the lawn though.
