It puts a leading x on the target when an arena has aim assist enabled as a training tool..Jaeger1 has enabled it in MNM sometimes

In ma it places a box around the closest target, which is handy info and you can track it through clouds

FWIW those are two different things. The tab key does the box around an enemy in icon range. The green thing is the "lead computed gunsight" option in arena settings which cannot be/is not enabled in the MA.

That film highlights the advantage of having aim assist in flight checked...it provides a nice box around the bogey when it's "hidden" in the clouds..

Let me help clarify:   The target lock - "padlock" (box around enemy icon) is not the same as the LCS (moving x.)    They are separate commands, and the LCS is only enabled in training or in a Special or custom arena as an arena setting.

The icon box is padlock (tab key)  It can be found in keymapping under views, there are several padlock options.

And I just noticed a new to me "tracker mode" using (ctrl + F1-4 keys)  I don't think this is the LCS, but I'm not seeing any other logical key map that would toggle the LCS on/off in the TA or SEA by individuals, it just might be.  Jaeger can probably answer this.

It doesn't. It's padlock, not aim assist (aka the LCGS). He's just too stupid to know the difference.

Both were activated for me in mnm when we 1st tried the leading sight x thingy..

I still get the box on the closet bogey without having to hit tab like shown in that video

And yes the aiming tool doesn't work in ma
